I know, I know, I know!!! You only just got finished reading my huge post on Bach Flowers the other day and then I go and bombard you with another update ;)
Well the reason being that I had such a great few days creating and helping themselves make their very first movies. We found a fantastic book in The Warehouse for under $10 on how to create animated movies along with the software needed to complete it. It is for years 8 plus so I really did get it for future interests however once I showed them a little they just wanted to hear more and more!
There was modelling clay with the book and as I was not that keen on letting them rip into the clay just yet they asked if they could make a movies with Lego. Sure - why not?! After all Lego is the main activity in this house from dawn till dusk at the moment ;)
So first to the story-boarding. We checked in the book to see what one would look like then had a bit of a debate about weather Friends and Lego City were allowed to be in the same movie. After some length of time and heat it appears they can't be ;) So two storyboards it is and one camera ready for action. I was really pleased with how well the storyboarding went as usually when the kids, well Jasmine actually, tell stories it ends up being a mini soap opera! On this occasion they both came up with quite concise ideas and parts of the story - Yay!
Trying out the set for size
Jasmine got to make hers first as Daniel wanted to see how it was done - or maybe how it is not done ;) We put all the figures into position and diligently moved each slightly as Jasmine took photos in between moves. She had it all under control so I wasn't allowed to look and after a lot of fiddling and 83 photos later we were done!
Kate getting her tools to fix the jet ski
Talk about laugh when we first saw it!!!! I have managed to work out how to slow it down now and later we will have a go at adding sound which will be yet another eye-opening learning experience for us all. After seeing Jasmine's we decided to make 'sets' for subsequent movies and so we were all prepared for Daniel's 'Grumpy Fireman goes to work' movie to be made. Daniel decided he would move the figures and I could take the photos - not sure this made any improvements though ;)
Making the movie sets
I just had to share as so elated about all the learning, creating, sharing and connecting we have done ;) Plus I thought you might like a good laugh to see you into the weekend! Learnt heaps about converting files and all sorts so, as mentioned, no sound as yet as wanted to leave that learning curve for the next movies I think ;) Look out for the Grumpy Fireman's Rolly Poley and one of the Friends pretending to be a dog!
Love it - will be showing my big two...yay for inspiration!
